Apparently I ruined my son's life today. He wanted to take a sack lunch to school today instead of having school lunch. Fine. He BEGGED me for a twinkie. I said no, you already have a rice krispy treat in there with your sandwich and chips. I packed up his lunch and while he was in the other room I grabbed a twinkie, wrote "love you" on it with a sharpie, threw it in and closed up the bag. Apparently that's where I messed up royally. When I asked him this evening if he noticed his surprise in his lunch he burst out crying and said "Ya, thanks a lot!" and stormed off into the bathroom. I guess "ALL the boys saw it" and were making fun of him. I guess I'll have to be more sneaky if I ever decide to try that again.
How come sweet little boys have to grow up so fast?
My Mom used to make our sack lunches in brown paper bags. She'd get creative every once in a while by drawing cute things and writing I love you on the outside...and my brother could not wait to get 3 or 4 blocks away so he could ditch his special lunch bag!
ReplyDeleteThese days I decorate certain "favored" customer's bags if they happen to chit chat at the front counter for too long. :) It makes me smile to think of some of the guys getting back to the job site with flowers and butterflys on their parts bag! :)
dang it! I thought it was going to be a happy ending!! I can feel ya mandy!! Our boys are growing up and not wanting that extra attention from their momma's! When I cheer for caleb at his games or shout to him to say hi, he just gives me a little grin and a little shrug and turns around with the quickness....I just have to laugh!!
ReplyDeleteAw man! That sucks! I didn't think Julian would ever be embarrassed by anything like that. He seems to be the one in charge usually. Poor baby is growing up. =(
